Laura Woods Appears To Collapse Live on Air During England vs Ghana
Laura Wood left football fans worried when she appeared to collapse live on air.
The incident occurred during coverage of England Women’s clash with Ghana, an international friendly that was being played at Southampton’s St Mary’s Stadium.
Anchoring the show for ITV, Woods suddenly fell forward before being caught by punditry duo Ian Wright and Anita Asante.
The cameras quickly cut away from Woods, with audio briefly continuing as Arsenal legend Wright checked on Woods’ wellbeing. The programme then promptly went to an extended ad break.
Following the break, Katie Shanahan stepped in to continue ITV’s coverage alongside Wright and Asante.
Adam Collard Gives Laura Woods Upate
After stepping in for the popular host, Shanahan provided a brief update to viewers on ITV who had been left concerned by what they’d seen.
She said: “As you have probably noticed, we don’t have the wonderful Laura Woods because she’s just been taken ill, but she’s in very good hands, so I’m stepping in at late notice.
ITV are yet to provide an official update on Woods’ wellbeing.
Woods is one of the most successful faces in sports broadcasting an is a regular on ITV’s coverage of the Lionesses where she has been lead anchor for both the 2023 Women’s World Cup and Euro 2025.
She’s also a regular on ITV and TNT Sports, where she presents coverage of the men’s Champions League, while previously hosting the Breakfast Show on talkSPORT. The 38-year-old gave birth to her first child in January 2025 with former Love Island star Adam Collard and returned to TV in April.
Taking to X, Collard gave an update on Woods, saying: “Laura is all ok and with the right people. Thank you for all of your kind messages.”

Fans Express Well Wishes For Woods
Following the incident, concerned fans were quick to express their concern for the host’s wellbeing after witnessing her fall during the Lionesses’ coverage of their friendly with Ghana.
One X user wrote: “Don’t know what happened there with Laura Woods at the coverage of the Lionesses game on ITV4, but hoping she’s ok.”
Meanwhile, another said: “Looking forward to the game but hope Laura Woods is okay. Quite a shock to see her collapse like that.”
There was also kudos for Shanahan and Arsenal legend Wright for their handling of the situation. One fan said: “Full respect to the presenter who had to step in with zero notice after Laura Woods fainted. She’s making it look easy.”
Another simply added: “Hope Laura Woods is OK? Well played Wrighty.”
