Lazio must make Basic renewal a priority

Lazio midfielder Toma Basic is one of the revelations of the season.
And not only for what he is providing on the pitch, but for the motivations that brought him back from total invisibility: from out of the squad to an untouchable starter.
He returned out of sheer necessity, too many injuries, in the away match at Genoa, and from that moment Sarri has never taken him out of the rotation, even once the absentees gradually came back.
A decisive goal against Juventus, but also a long run of top-level performances, both tactically and in terms of personality.
In practice, Basic has been a kind of winter signing: the Croatian has freed himself psychologically and is giving Lazio a continuity that helps, and not just a little. Now we move to the real issue: the renewal.
Basic’s contract expires in June, and last summer he said no to several proposals, from Italy and abroad, because he didn’t want to make rushed decisions.
Today the situation has turned around completely. Lazio should be the ones in a hurry, because keeping hold of him is no longer an option: it’s a necessity.
