Leeds Make Contact to Sign Napoli Star Noa Lang
Leeds United have emerged as potential suitors for Napoli winger Noa Lang as the Serie A club weigh up possible outgoing business during the January transfer window, according to AreaNapoli.
The Dutch international has endured a mixed start to life in Italy following his summer arrival from PSV Eindhoven, and while his involvement has increased in recent weeks, uncertainty continues to surround his long-term role under Antonio Conte. Leeds are understood to have made contact to explore the conditions of a possible deal, with Napoli open to generating funds this month if the right proposal arrives.
With Leeds assessing attacking reinforcements as they push towards their objectives for the second half of the season, Lang’s situation has come onto their radar once again.
Leeds Revive Long-Standing Interest in Noa Lang
AreaNapoli report that Leeds have made an approach for Noa Lang, with the winger having been admired by the club long before his move to Italy. Leeds were previously keen during Lang’s time at Club Brugge and have continued to track his career through spells in the Netherlands and now Serie A.
Lang, who has been compared to Neymar, initially struggled for prominence after joining Napoli, with early tensions reported between the player and head coach Antonio Conte, largely due to limited minutes. However, his situation has improved, starting three of Napoli’s last six league games and registering two assists in that period.
Despite that uptick in involvement, Napoli are understood to be open to his exit if it allows them to reinvest elsewhere. Conte is keen to reshape areas of his squad and views January as an opportunity to adjust his attacking options if the right deals can be struck.
Napoli are not expected to sanction a straightforward loan exit and would prefer a permanent sale, or at minimum guarantees over a future obligation to buy. That stance could complicate matters for Leeds, who are currently exploring the market but remain cautious about committing significant funds mid-season.
Leeds are looking for attacking reinforcements after allowing Jack Harrison to depart for Fiorentina, while they have brought in playmaker Facundo Buonanotte on loan from Brighton this month too.
Napoli stance and competition complicate potential move
Lang’s salary of £86,000-a-week is also a factor, that could be difficult for Leeds to deal with as they contend with PSR regulations.
Nevertheless, his output at PSV last season – 14 goals and 12 assists – underlines the level of attacking quality he can bring when operating in a familiar role on the left flank.
Leeds are not alone in monitoring the situation. AreaNapoli add that VfL Wolfsburg and AS Monaco have also made exploratory contact, while interest from Turkey is beginning to emerge, including from Besiktas.
At this stage, Leeds’ interest is described as tentative rather than advanced. Napoli are continuing to assess the market, while Lang himself will have a significant say in any potential move. With multiple clubs circling and Napoli holding firm on their terms, the winger’s future remains one to watch as the window develops.
