Lennox Lewis delivers his final verdict on Anthony Joshua vs Jake Paul: “I didn’t see it coming”
Jake Paul and Anthony Joshua are set to take to this week and former undisputed heavyweight world champion Lennox Lewis has now offered his thoughts ahead of the contest.
Anthony Joshua challenged for the heavyweight world title last September but was brutally knocked out by then IBF champion Daniel Dubois under the Wembley arch in London – and he has yet to fight since.
It remains to be seen whether that damning defeat has had a lasting impact on ‘AJ’, but the two-time heavyweight champion has since appointed Team Usyk’s Igeor Golub as his new head coach, as he attempts to mount another title charge.
In their first fight together, Joshua takes on a YouTuber-turned-boxer that lacks experience in the heavyweight division, but some sceptics believe that Paul could pull off one of the biggest upsets in boxing history and overcome the Briton.
On his X account, Lewis dismissed the chances of Paul shocking the world, stating that ‘The Problem Child’ should be “easy work” for Anthony Joshua.
“Yeah… Entertainment and money make strange bedfellows. This should be easy work for AJ though. Shout out to Jake for stepping into a fight like this. I didn’t see that coming.”

If the night goes as Lewis expects then fans may finally get to see ‘AJ’ take on long-time British rival Tyson Fury, with reports this week suggesting a deal is finally close for the two to meet in 2026.
Paul-Joshua takes place on Friday, December 19, at the Kaseya Center in Miami and will be available to watch live on Netflix with a standard subscription and no additional pay-per-view cost.
