Lewis Hamilton’s first visit to Ferrari’s Maranello factory has been marked by a surprising reunion with his former trusted aide Angela Cullen.

According to the Daily Mail, the 50-year-old New Zealand physio has been spotted in Fiorano, near Ferrari’s headquarters, just as Hamilton begins his new chapter with the Italian team.

The reunion comes nearly two years after the pair’s unexpected split in early 2023, with Cullen having previously served as Hamilton’s chief confidante and assistant through four world championships at Mercedes.

During their time together at Mercedes, Cullen was a constant presence by Hamilton’s side, often seen arranging his hair or holding his umbrella on the grid.

The pair’s bond grew particularly strong during the Covid lockdown period, when F1 personnel were restricted to small ‘bubbles’ of two or three people.

Their partnership was marked by remarkable success, with Hamilton describing her as ‘one of the best things that has happened to me in my life’.

Hamilton once said of the mother of two: “She’s the single hardest-working woman that I get to be around.

“She’s focused, selfless and makes my weekends peaceful,” he added.

The seven-time world champion particularly praised Cullen’s unwavering positivity, stating: “Every day I wake up, whatever time it is, she’s just positive. Never a single day has she been negative. That’s very important.”

Her return suggests Hamilton is gathering trusted allies as he seeks to reignite his career at age 40.

Hamilton arrived at Ferrari’s factory gates in the early hours of Monday, heralding what he called a “new era in the history of this iconic team.”

During his first day, the British driver met with key Ferrari personnel, including his new race engineer Riccardo Adami.

Adami, who previously worked with Carlos Sainz, will continue in his role as Hamilton’s race engineer at the Italian team.

The British driver’s official unveiling took place outside founder Enzo Ferrari’s trackside office.

For the historic moment, Hamilton was dressed formally in a black suit with an overcoat worn cape-style.

The scene marked the beginning of Hamilton’s final chapter in Formula One, as he seeks a fresh start with the iconic Italian team.
