Liverpool Eyeing 'Surprise' Move for Goncalo Ramos

Liverpool have been linked with a move to sign Paris Saint-Germain forward Goncalo Ramos, and he could be a better option for the Reds than splashing £65m on Antoine Semenyo.

Liverpool were one of the sides who were linked with Bournemouth forward Semenyo, but GIVEMESPORT understands that his preference is to join Manchester City, while the Reds aren’t currently in the race to secure his signature. Semenyo might have been one of the obvious additions for Liverpool in the January transfer window, due to his £65m release clause, but a different profile of forward might be the better option for them.

According to reports, Liverpool are considering a ‘surprise’ six-month loan deal in the January transfer window for PSG forward Ramos. The Reds are looking for an additional forward due to Isak’s injury, and they could opt for a short-term fix in the winter.

In reality, the move for Ramos could be Liverpool’s ideal solution. If the Reds splash the cash on a new forward, Arne Slot could face some difficulties keeping everyone happy when Mohamed Salah returns from AFCON and Isak is fit again. A stop-gap option with Ramos could be ideal, and he’s shown he’s a ‘prolific’ striker in front of goal.

Signing Semenyo for £65m would certainly boost Liverpool’s options, but thinking about the long-term, bringing in Ramos on a temporary deal could be the smarter, more financially savvy move for the Reds.

A Striker Over a Winger for Arne Slot

If Slot was being picky, there’s no doubt he’d like to add another winger to his squad in the January transfer window, but the striker position has to be the more pressing issue as it stands. Thankfully, Hugo Ekitike has adapted to life in the Premier League with ease, but if he suffers an injury in the coming weeks, Slot will be left with just one fit senior striker.

The likes of Florian Wirtz, Salah, Cody Gakpo, Federico Chiesa, Jeremie Frimpong, Rio Ngumoha, and even Dominik Szoboszlai are options for Liverpool out wide, but there’s little cover and competition through the middle with Isak out injured.

The addition of a forward appears to be one of Liverpool’s priorities in the winter window, and reinforcements will certainly come in handy after an inconsistent start to the campaign.
