Liverpool suffer major Mohamed Salah contract blow as PSG make jaw-dropping offer

Paris Saint-Germain have launched an ambitious bid to sign Mohamed Salah, offering the Liverpool forward a lucrative three-year deal worth €500,000 (£415,000) per week.

The French champions’ proposal significantly outweighs Liverpool’s current extension offer of €400,000 (£330,000) per week over two years.

French journalist Romain Collet Gaudin revealed PSG are “very keen” to sign the Egyptian this summer, with the Ligue 1 giants prepared to make him their first marquee signing since Kylian Mbappe’s departure to Real Madrid.

Salah enters the final six months of his contract at Anfield, making him free to negotiate with overseas clubs.

The 32-year-old forward recently addressed the contract situation after Liverpool’s 5-0 victory over West Ham, stating negotiations remain “far away” from completion.

Despite this uncertainty, Salah has maintained his desire to stay at Liverpool, with the club reportedly reaching an ‘agreement in principle’ over a two-year extension, though image rights remain a final hurdle.

PSG’s pursuit of Salah comes as they look to bolster their attacking options following Mbappe’s move to Real Madrid last summer.

The Ligue 1 side’s superior offer demonstrates their financial muscle, with both a higher weekly wage and an additional year compared to Liverpool’s proposal.

Multiple sources have confirmed Liverpool remain in negotiations with Salah, with transfer expert Fabrizio Romano suggesting the Merseyside club maintains confidence in reaching an agreement.

However, PSG’s intervention presents a significant challenge to Liverpool’s retention plans.

Former Liverpool midfielder Didi Hamann has offered a contrasting view on Salah’s future, expressing confidence that the Egyptian will remain at Anfield.

“From what I hear, both Salah and Liverpool are negotiating and I think he will stay,” Hamann told BoyleSports.

The German suggested that despite interest from other clubs, he “can’t see him in anything other than a Liverpool shirt.”

Hamann acknowledged that while any club would be “foolish” not to show interest, he believes Salah has no intention of leaving Liverpool.

The match comes amid this developing contract situation, with both Liverpool and PSG awaiting Salah’s decision on his future.
