Luis Enrique delivers Man Utd verdict and makes instant transfer request
Luis Enrique has already asked Manchester United to sign an attacking star who’s on the “same level as Mbappe” if he is to join the club as their next permanent manager, according to recent reports.
Luis Enrique wants Man Utd challenge
Enrique is successful enough to bow out of Paris Saint-Germain and simply watch the world of football from a distance, but he wouldn’t be a manager without having at least one more absurd idea. And that could be to the benefit of Man United.
According to recent reports, the Spaniard is keen to leave PSG at the end of his current contract in 2027 and is eager to take on the challenge of rebuilding the Red Devils. It’s looked like an impossible mission for many, yet Enrique is seemingly ready to do what others couldn’t.
Fabrizio Romano: Man Utd chiefs hold positive talks with “incredible” manager
The Red Devils are closing in on their man.
If it comes down to stature, there’s no doubt that the PSG boss will be the favourite to land the job even if United are forced to try everything to secure his signature a year early before the end of his contract in France. If it comes down to Man United’s so-called DNA, meanwhile, then he should also sit top of their list.
Whether Gary Neville shares that opinion is an interesting question.
The former right-back had his say on the managerial position earlier this week, telling Sky Sports: “It does look like that’s going to be put off for another four or five months, which I don’t disagree with because if they can get a Carlo Ancelotti or a Thomas Tuchel at the end of the season, a manager of that ilk, then you’d wait for them.
“For so long, over 12 years, the football has been really poor. If you think about the appointments over that time, Jose Mourinho is the only one who fits the criteria of the club.”
Whilst he didn’t mention Enrique, the 55-year-old certainly fits that same “criteria” and has already reportedly told INEOS to sign one of the world’s best attacking stars.
Enrique tells Man Utd to sign Rodrygo
According to reports in Spain, Enrique has told Man United to sign Rodrygo for him if he does become their new manager in the summer. The Brazilian remains one of the best attackers in the world and has been linked with a move away from Real Madrid over the last six months.
Welcoming Enrique and then Rodrygo would be a sensational move for everyone involved at Old Trafford. In two moves, they’d be landing one of the world’s best managers, who Steven Gerrard dubbed “special”, and one of the best forwards that European football has to offer in Rodrygo.
Whilst some underrate Rodrygo, praise from Rivaldo suggests that he’s not one to be overlooked. The Brazilian legend said: “Rodrygo is at the same level as Mbappe, Bellingham or Vinicius. It’s just that he has every reason to talk about it.”
