Luke Littler has revealed he won’t be practicing for his next tournament in the wake of his remarkable win at the World Darts Championship, with the teenager intending to take a break.

The 17-year-old won the Sid Waddell trophy with a convincing 7-3 victory over Michael van Gerwen, 12 months after he’d suffered final heartbreak to Luke Humphries in the same tournament.

Littler has already earned over £1.4million in prize money over the past 12 months or so, while he’s also established himself as one of the best players on the planet.

His next tournament will be the Bahrain Darts Masters, which is due to commence on January 16.

And Littler has now revealed he won’t be practicing for that competition, with the darts star instead set for a brief break.

“I’ll be honest, the World Series of Darts starts in Bahrain in a week or two weeks’ time and I won’t be practising until I go to Bahrain,” he told the BBC.

While Littler is blessed with obvious talent, he’s also previously revealed that he limits how much he practices.

He said at the World Darts Championship that he only tests himself for ‘half an hour a day’.

He also joked that any longer than that is ‘boring’ to him – with Littler known for spending his down time playing on his Xbox.

Speaking on Friday, shortly after he thumped Van Gerwen, the 17-year-old admitted he delighted after securing the biggest victory of his brief career so far.

“I can’t believe it. We both played so well,” he said.

“I’ve said in interviews that I needed to get off to a quick start tonight and that’s what I did. But he was behind me the whole game, those cover shots – he’d hit two trebles and I’d have to come back with two or three.

“Everyone dreams of lifting this trophy. You’ve got to get through a tough field. I can’t believe it.

I keep saying it but that first game against Ryan Meikle [in round two] was the one that really mattered, and throughout I’ve just settled.

“At 2-0 up [in the final set] I started getting nervous but I said to myself to just relax. I was throwing for the match and to get it over and done with then was special.”

Littler also looked back on his final defeat to Humphries, insisting the lessons learned from that experience have been key after he went one better in 2025.

He added: “I learned a lot.

“Last year in the semis against Rob Cross, that was the first time I was 1-0 down, and then obviously against Luke [Humphries].

“But tonight and throughout the tournament, I just needed to get off to a quick start.

“Earlier today, I watched all of the game back against Luke and I had the visions.”
