Luke Shaw Must Be Sold After 4/10 Disasterclass
The Premier League’s Monday night game served up a treat for neutral football fans, as Manchester United and Bournemouth played out an entertaining 4-4 draw. But supporters of the Red Devils will be disappointed with the two points they dropped.
Ruben Amorim’s side, deploying a new system when in possession, were dominant in the first half and took the lead through Amad Diallo after Djorde Petrovic failed to deal with Diogo Dalot’s cross. But for all their chances, they failed to increase their advantage, which allowed Antoine Semenyo to equalise after the Red Devils carelessly gave the ball away.
It seemed as though both sides would enter half-time deadlocked, but United once again took the lead just before the interval. Casemiro headed Fernandes’ corner past a static Petrovic, who was once again guilty of poor goalkeeping. However, while their first half performance was excellent, their start to the second was appalling. Evanilson grabbed a second goal for the Cherries seconds after play resumed, before Tavernier put the visitors in front, burying a free-kick after being brought down just outside the penalty area.
Man Utd: Two Players Hit Out at Ruben Amorim in Now-Deleted Social Media Posts
Ruben Amorim appears to have annoyed two of his own players after the Man Utd boss made strong comments before the Bournemouth clash.
It took a moment of brilliance from another set-piece for United to find a leveller, as Fernandes bent a beautiful effort past Petrovic into the top right corner. And just seconds later, they were back in front, as Cunha capitalised on a mistake from Adrien Truffert.
But there was one more twist left in the game, as Andoni Iraola’s team grabbed the eighth goal of the match. Substitute Junior Kroupi curled the ball past Lammens, ensuring that both teams left with a share of the spoils.
Luke Shaw Cost United vs Bournemouth
Having struggled for consistency and fitness in recent seasons, Luke Shaw has experienced something of a renaissance at Old Trafford in recent weeks. He was outstanding against Crystal Palace, playing an integral role in United’s win at Selhurst Park.
However, the England international’s display against Bournemouth was below par. It was Shaw who carelessly gave the ball away for Bournemouth’s first of the evening, with him comfortably barged off the ball and left trailing behind by Semenyo.

Although the defender did manage to win most of his duels in the game, he was guilty of losing the ball frequently. His total of 15 was more than all but two United players, Fernandes and Cunha, who were at least in prominent positions and trying to create chances with difficult through balls.
As one of the older players in this team, Shaw should be the one guiding a largely inexperienced backline through matches like this. Instead, Ayden Heaven also struggled at points, as did Leny Yoro. Amorim should be demanding more from someone who should be a leader in this team — had he stepped up more, perhaps the game would not have spiralled out of control as it did on Monday night.
Now 30-years-old and in the final 18 months of his current contract, serious questions should be asked about whether he’s the man the club want to be starting games week in, week out. For United to get to the next level, they should contemplate making an upgrade on their veteran defender.
Fans React to Shaw’s Performance vs Bournemouth
For fans watching the game, many were quick to criticise Shaw after he helped gift Bournemouth a route back into the game during the first half. One supporter wrote, “Luke Shaw that’s disgraceful,” while another added, “Get Luke Shaw out of my club man.”
But for others, the error was in keeping with what they have seen from the left-back over the years. One said: “Luke Shaw needs to leave my club. I’ve said this every year since 2015.” And that was followed up by a fellow United fan, who wrote: “Luke Shaw absolutely bullied on that goal. 10 years of pure mediocrity.”
One more supporter stated: “Luke Shaw back to his usual self.” And an additional one called for the club to upgrade on both Shaw and Diogo Dalot, saying: “Luke Shaw and Dalot are not good defenders regardless of formation whatever formation we use going forward they shouldn’t be in the team.”
A final supporter stated: “Luke Shaw continues to display how average he is. He can’t stand playing two to three games in a row.”
