Alan Shearer has delivered a scathing assessment of Marcus Rashford’s current form, declaring the Manchester United forward is “miles off” the player he was two to three years ago.
The former Premier League striker, speaking as a Betfair ambassador, expressed his confusion over Rashford’s dramatic dip in performance levels.
The 27-year-old forward has struggled to maintain the heights of the 22/23 season, when he netted 30 times during Erik ten Hag’s debut campaign.
United are reportedly open to offers for Rashford, with his value plummeting from what would have been £100million a few years ago to around £40m now.

The dramatic drop in his market worth comes despite him signing a lucrative contract worth £325,000 per week last year.
This season has seen Rashford score just four Premier League goals, with the 27-year-old struggling to secure a regular place in the team since the arrival of new head coach Ruben Amorim.
Speaking to the Daily Mail, Shearer admitted uncertainty about the reasons behind Rashford’s decline.

“I’m not inside the dressing room and I don’t know his personality or attitude,” the Newcastle legend said.
“But what I do know is he’s miles off the player that we saw two to three years ago and I don’t know what the reason is for that.
“I don’t know whether he’s enjoying it or not enjoying it. Or whether he’s had enough or if he wants to carry on.”

Rashford’s off-field behaviour has drawn significant criticism over the past year.
In November 2023, he faced backlash for visiting a nightclub following United’s 3-0 derby defeat to Manchester City.
Further controversy followed in January when he called in sick for training after what was reported as a 12-hour ‘tequila-fuelled bender’ in Belfast.
