Man Utd Braced for ‘Historic’ Bid from Al Hilal for Bruno Fernandes
Saudi giants Al Hilal are plotting a ‘historic’ transfer bid to sign Manchester United star Bruno Fernandes this summer, according to Fichajes.
The Red Devils are expecting a major overhaul of their midfield department in the next summer transfer window, having splashed over £200m on their attack last year, bringing in Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo, and Benjamin Sesko.
Now, after confirming that Casemiro will depart the club at the end of his contract in June, the club could now lose another talisman from the squad, and they are braced for a huge bid that could potentially tempt them to part ways with their captain.
Al Hilal Plan Historic Bruno Fernandes Offer
Fernandes, who has been described as ‘phenomenal’ by club legend Paul Scholes, is out of contract in 2027 and there was strong interest in his services from Saudi Arabia last year. However, the Portugal international opted to stay at Old Trafford following talks with then-manager Ruben Amorim, who viewed him as an untouchable player in the squad.
Al Hilal are now set to renew interest from the Saudi league to take him to the Middle East, and it has been reported that they are ready to make him one of the highest-paid players in the history of the game to get a deal done.
Fernandes is seen as someone who could become the face of the league in the future, and despite turning 32 later this year, they feel that his performance levels are still very high, and he would be raising the quality of the league with his arrival. The player hasn’t made a final decision on his future yet, but it’s understood that he could consider a Man Utd exit in the summer after the World Cup.
German champions Bayern Munich are also said to hold an interest in the attacking midfielder, but Al Hilal are hopeful that their financial offer will be too good to refuse, for both the player and for Man Utd.
Man Utd Can Pay for Squad Overhaul With Fernandes Sale
While Fernandes is by far and away the best player at Man Utd, and the current squad is built around him, selling him could allow for whoever the new manager is next year to come in and shape the squad in their own image immediately.
The likes of Elliot Anderson, Adam Wharton and Carlos Baleba have all been linked with moves to Old Trafford in the summer, and with Casemiro also on the move, there will be plenty of funds freed up to get business done in the summer.
Replacing both of them in one summer will be difficult, but having a huge lump sum of money to work with will make it a little easier, and it shouldn’t be thrown out too quickly.
