Man Utd Eyeing Former Barcelona Manager Xavi Hernandez
Manchester United are now eyeing a move to appoint former Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez, who has emerged as the leading candidate to replace Ruben Amorim, according to Fichajes.
Xavi, described as ‘the best manager in the world’ by Joan Laporta, has been out of work since leaving Barcelona back in 2024. The former Spain international averaged 2.07 points per game during his time with the La Liga giants, lifting one league title and one Super Cup before his departure.
The 45-year-old was previously in charge of Qatari side Al-Sadd before his move to Barcelona, where he delivered a host of different trophies. Xavi is yet to manage in the Premier League, and he’s previously hinted that he could be interested in a move to the Premier League during his managerial career.
Man Utd Discover ‘Leading Candidate’ to Replace Amorim
According to a report from Fichajes, Manchester United are interested in appointing Xavi as their new manager to replace Amorim at Old Trafford. The Red Devils believe that the coach fits the profile that they need to head back in the right direction, while Xavi has been rejecting multiple offers as he waits for the right opportunity.
Xavi has emerged as ‘the leading candidate’ for the role, while the prospect of managing in the Premier League is something that attracts him. United would be able to offer him a higher salary than he’s received in the past, another factor which could influence his decision on whether he wants to make the move to Old Trafford in the coming weeks or months.
