Man Utd Have Deal in Place to Sign Manu Kone From Roma in June
Manchester United are set to sign AS Roma midfielder Manu Kone in the summer of 2026, according to Italian journalist Francesca Teodori, via AS Roma Live.
Ruben Amorim is keen to bring in new midfield options for his squad at Old Trafford amid question marks over the future of Kobbie Mainoo, Bruno Fernandes, Casemiro and Manuel Ugarte for a number of different reasons.
Elliott Anderson of Nottingham Forest is believed to be the number one target, while Adam Wharton and Carlos Baleba are also admired, and a shock move for James Garner in January has also been mooted, but it has now emerged that the Red Devils could be set to pre-arrange a deal ahead of the summer.
Manu Kone ‘to Join Man Utd in June’
Kone, who has been described as a ‘three man midfield by himself’, has been a regular for the Roma side this season with 16 appearances in Serie A, and his performances have seen him earn rave reviews.
Inter Milan were keen on a deal to sign him in the last summer window, but nothing materialised, and now while appearing on Twitch TV for AS Roma Live, journalist Francesca Teodori revealed that she has been told an exit next summer looks inevitable, with Man Utd said to be the destination.
“It’s not news, but it’s a fairly credible rumour,” she said.
“I’ve been told by multiple sources that he’ll leave Roma in June and join Manchester United. “I don’t know if this has anything to do with the Joshua Zirkzee deal. He might have been included as a sort of counterpart. This remains to be seen, but what’s certain is that Kone is very keen on the destination, and it looks like he could join United in June.”
A deal in January has been completely taken off the table by Roma’s management as they look to keep hold of their key players, but a move to the Premier League in the summer now looks to be on the cards.
Man Utd Kone Move Would Be Excellent Business
Zirkzee’s move to Roma in the January window seems to be something that is very much on the cards, and he is a player who hasn’t been someone that Amorim has largely relied upon since he came to Old Trafford.
So if the club’s management are using this as a chance to negotiate a move for a player they are interested in, and are able to get ahead of the competition to bring him in, then it would represent some sensational business.
Kone, who is ‘one of the most exciting midfielders in Serie A’, is a top young midfielder and would fit the profile of what the manager wants in midfield, so Old Trafford fans should be hoping that this ‘credible rumour’ becomes true.
