Man Utd Hold Talks to Sign Jeremy Monga From Leicester
Manchester United are among a group of elite clubs positioning themselves for a major battle over Leicester City wonderkid Jeremy Monga, with sources confirming to TEAMtalk that the race to sign the 16-year-old is set to intensify in 2026.
Monga has emerged as one of the most exciting young prospects in English football, with the article claiming ‘every top Premier League club’ is chasing him.
The teenager has already made more than 20 first-team appearances despite his age. He made his Leicester debut at just 15 last season, becoming the second-youngest player in Premier League history, behind only Ethan Nwaneri.
United are understood to have outlined their long-term development pathway directly to Monga’s representatives, with the club keen to ensure they remain firmly in the conversation as he approaches a critical decision point in his career.
According to GIVEMESPORT senior reporter Fabrizio Romano, United have also made a phone call about signing Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo.
United monitoring situation as Monga nears contract crossroads
Monga turns 17 in July, at which point he will be eligible to sign his first professional contract with Leicester. However, it remains unclear whether he will commit his future to the Foxes, who are currently struggling to find consistency in their promotion push.
While the ‘generational talent’ is understood to be satisfied with the first-team exposure he is receiving at the King Power Stadium, both he and his camp are fully aware of the level of interest building around him. United are one of several Premier League clubs who have made their interest clear, alongside Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City and Newcastle United.
The impact made this season by fellow young England internationals Rio Ngumoha and Max Dowman has only heightened belief that elite teenagers can be fast-tracked into Premier League environments, a factor that could influence Monga’s thinking.
Tottenham push hard but United remain firmly involved
TEAMtalk report that Tottenham have been making a particularly strong push in recent weeks, attempting to move ahead of rivals in the race for the Coventry-born winger. It emerged in October that Manchester City were leading the chase at that stage, but Spurs are now trying to disrupt that momentum.
United, however, remain very much involved and are expected to continue engaging with Monga’s camp as the situation develops. Sources suggest a final decision is unlikely until early 2026, giving United time to strengthen their case.
Interest is not limited to England. Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus, Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund have all held discussions with Monga’s representatives, although any move abroad would likely have to wait until 2027.
For now, United are firmly in the race – but competition for one of England’s brightest young talents is only heating up.
