Man Utd in Contact With Roma Over Joshua Zirkzee and Evan Ndicka Swap Deal
Manchester United have reportedly held talks with Serie A side Roma over a potential swap deal involving Joshua Zirkee and Evan Ndicka, according to AS Roma Live.
Zirkzee’s future at Old Trafford remains uncertain, with Ruben Amorim clearly not fancying the Dutch striker. Since his move from Bologna, Zirkzee has struggled to make the impact expected of him, and a departure feels like a feasible solution when the January transfer window opens in just a few days.
A departure in the early weeks of the January window might not suit United due to Bryan Mbeumo and Amad Diallo being away at AFCON, but when everyone is fit and available, there’s little room for Zirkzee in the side. If United can secure a swap deal, it could be an ideal move for all parties involved.
Man Utd Hold Talks Over Zirkzee Departure
According to a report from AS Roma Live, Manchester United have Roma centre-back Ndicka as one of their targets to strengthen their defensive department. The Red Devils are said to have held talks with Roma over the centre-back during discussions around Zirkzee, who could be heading the other way.
It’s claimed that United could look to sign Ndicka, described as ‘phenomenal’, as part of a deal that sees Zirkzee sign for Roma on a permanent move next summer, following his potential loan move to the Serie A outfit.
The Red Devils are believed not to be considering a move for Ndicka in the January window, but a deal could be possible next summer after Zirkzee’s potential loan move with Roma is turned permanent.
Man Utd Confident of Signing ‘One of the Best Wingers in the World’ as ‘Priority’
Manchester United are reportedly confident of signing Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola in the January transfer window.
Centre-Back Could be a Priority Next Summer
Harry Maguire is set to be out of contract next summer as it stands, which could mean a move to sign a new centre-back in 2025 becomes a priority. Ayden Heaven and Leny Yoro are still learning the ropes of Premier League football, while Lisandro Martinez is recovering from a long-term injury.
There’s an argument to suggest that bringing in a new central midfielder should be a bigger priority for United, but next summer is an opportunity for them to strengthen in multiple positions. Amorim’s side solved their attacking issues in the most recent summer window with a triple signing, and focus can now switch to the defence and midfield heading into 2026.
