Man Utd learn final Marcus Rashford transfer decision as Barcelona ‘inform his agents’

The forward is currently on loan with Barcelona with the sacking of Ruben Amorim causing some uncertainty over his future.

Barcelona have reportedly informed Marcus Rashford‘s agents of their plan to keep him beyond his current loan deal from Manchester United. The forward joined the Spanish giant on a season-long loan back in the summer.

He has impressed at the Nou Camp. But there has been some uncertainty over his long-term future, despite Barcelona having an option to make the deal permanent at the end of the season.

However, it now seems that a decision has been made. Journalist Fabrizio Romano claims that Barcelona plan to start negotiations in the next few months after making a firm decision to sign him permanently. The buy option as part of his loan agreement is valued at around €30 million (£26m).

Rashford himself is now reported to have been informed of the decision and is ‘delighted’ with his time with the Catalan club so far. He has previously expressed his desire to stay at the club beyond his loan deal, meaning that there should be no doubts over the move on the player’s side.

Uncertainty over his long-term future came after United decided to part ways with manager Ruben Amorim at the start of the week. Rashford struggled for game time under the Portuguese manager, with him leaving on loan both to Aston Villa and Barcelona under the former United boss.

There was some speculation that a new manager could impact Rashford’s future, with the possibility of the new boss wanting to bring him back to Old Trafford and integrate him into the first-team picture.

A recent report from Mundo Deportivo claimed that there was no guarantee that Barcelona would trigger the clause. They were instead planning to negotiate a lower fee.

Despite a positive start to his Barcelona career, Rashford has found game time harder to come by in more recent times. The forward was dropped to the bench for the recent game against Villarreal and then lasted just the first half after starting against Espanyol.

He was named on the bench for the Super Cup semi-final against Athletic Club. He did, however, play the final 25 minutes of the 5-0 win.

As well as Barcelona making the decision to start negotiations, it’s already been reported that United have made up their mind over the player’s future.

It’s reported that the decision for him to originally leave the club was led by United’s hierarchy and not Amorim himself. It therefore means that the managerial situation at Old Trafford will not have too much of an impact on his future.
