Man Utd Must Sign Ruben Neves Instead After Holding Talks
Manchester United are interested in signing former Wolves midfielder Ruben Neves, and it could be a smarter addition than bringing in Antoine Semenyo in the January transfer window.
United were linked with a move to sign Bournemouth forward Semenyo over the last few weeks, and they were one of the frontrunners at one point. Now, the Ghanaian attacker’s preferred move would be to join their rivals, Manchester City, according to GIVEMESPORT sources.
Signing an attacker would have been an interesting move from United, considering Benjamin Sesko, Bryan Mbeumo, and Matheus Cunha all arrived in the summer transfer window. There are certainly more pressing issues than singing a new forward, including the middle of the park.
Neves a Better Option for Man Utd
According to reports, Manchester United have held talks over the possible signing of Al-Hilal midfielder Neves. The £340,000-a-week earner is open to a return to Europe in 2026, with a host of clubs contacted over a possible move when the January transfer window opens.
United would be better off focusing on bringing in a new midfielder in the January window rather than an attacker, meaning Neves could be a smarter option than Semenyo. The Portuguese international is comfortable on the ball in the middle of the park, and will offer United a bit more composure from midfield.
The Red Devils have a bit of a midfield crisis at the moment, with Bruno Fernandes and Kobbie Mainoo out injured, so it should be a priority position for United.
Perfect Semenyo Alternative: Man Utd Eyeing Move to Sign £87m Forward With ‘Outstanding Speed’
Manchester United are reportedly interested in signing RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande as they look for an alternative to Antoine Semenyo.
Man Utd Don’t Need an Attacker in January
Although United’s attacking options might look a little short, due to Mbeumo and Amad Diallo being on international duty, when everyone is fit, they have plenty of numbers. The aforementioned trio, who arrived in the summer, are likely guaranteed starters when all available, while you have Amad, Mason Mount, Joshua Zirkzee, and Bruno Fernandes, among others, as other options in the final third.
The defence and midfield are arguably more pressing issues for Amorim at the moment, and if they are going to splash the cash when the winter window opens soon, then it should be on a player of Neves’ profile, rather than Semenyo’s.
