Manchester United will look to bounce back from a disappointing 1-1 draw against Wolves as Ruben Amorim’s side prepare to face Leeds in the Premier League

Manchester United travel to Elland Road on Sunday as they take on Leeds. Ruben Amorim’s side failed to beat bottom-place Wolves last time out.

United began the current season in dire form and despite suggestions that head coach Amorim could be shown the exit door, their form has improved. But within intermittent victories came a lacklustre outing at Old Trafford just before the New Year.

With a trip to Leeds up next, a response is needed from the Portuguese manager’s squad, but one member who won’t feature is Kobbie Mainoo. The young Englishman is sidelined through injury but has also been linked with a move away from the club.

Having submitted a loan request over the summer, Mainoo has continued to find minutes scarce and he has now reportedly been handed a new escape route. Mirror Football brings you all the latest from Old Trafford.

Kobbie Mainoo gets transfer offer

Mainoo has been linked with a handful of clubs as his situation at United worsens, including Napoli, where players such as Scott McTominay and Rasmus Hojlund have found refuge.

However, new reports suggest that a proposal from Turkey is incoming. Turkish outlet Sabah claims that Besiktas have made contact with Mainoo’s club regarding a loan move.

According to the report, this prospective move would be an 18-month proposal and as of now, it remains unclear whether United would entertain it, as well as how Mainoo may react. England star Mainoo currently has just one year left on his deal with United and at just 20 years old, he will presumably be on the hunt to play senior football.

Speaking about the club’s January transfer window plans this week, though, Amorim said: “The transfer window is not going to change. We have no conversation to have any change in the squad. There is a process, there is an idea – that is going to continue.”

Opening up on who could leave Old Trafford before the window closes, he added: “No, none of them. I don’t expect them to come to me to ask [to leave].”

Joao Gomes update issued

Despite Bruno Fernandes cementing himself within Amorim’s midfield, United have been the subject of rumours regarding a new engine-room maestro.

Brighton’s Carlos Baleba was reportedly pursued in the summer and new rumours suggest the club are exploring an offer for him in January.

However another name supposedly on the shortlist is Wolves star Joao Gomes. And a new update given by the Mail suggests that there has been a lot of interest in the Brazilian

In a fresh report, the outlet claims that Gomes has suitors in his homeland of Brazil, as well as mainland Europe, meaning that United could face competition if they endeavor to sign the midfielder this month or in the summer.
