Man Utd 'Pushing' to Sign Antoine Semenyo After Direct Talks

Manchester United are pushing towards the signing of Bournemouth star Antoine Semenyo in January, GIVEMESPORT senior correspondent Fabrizio Romano has revealed.

The Old Trafford side held direct transfer talks with the 25-year-old forward yesterday and are battling Premier League rivals Manchester City for Semenyo’s signature.

Both clubs are believed to have held conversations with Semenyo’s camp on several occasions and have presented their projects, as well as financial opportunities, to the ‘world-class’ winger.

Semenyo is available to leave Bournemouth via a £65m release clause in January, valid for the first part of the month.

Romano, speaking on his YouTube channel, revealed that Manchester United are battling Man City for Semenyo’s signature ahead of January:

“Man United are pushing and pushing and pushing to try to get the deal done for Antoine Semenyo. “Man United against Manchester City. This is the situation of today, the Manchester battle, because also today, contacts took place between Semenyo’s camp, Man United and Man City. “The two clubs are pushing, presenting their projects, presenting their technical view, presenting their financial opportunities for the player. So Man United and Man City are battling for Antoine Semenyo.”

Semenyo has been one of the best players in the Premier League this season, scoring eight goals and providing three assists in 16 appearances for Bournemouth.

Only Erling Haaland (23) and Bruno Fernandes (12) have more goal contributions than the Ghanaian forward’s 11 this term, while Semenyo also ranks joint-third for goals scored.

The 25-year-old, who joined Bournemouth from Bristol City in 2023, is under contract until the summer of 2030.

If Semenyo does end up joining United in January, the 25-year-old looks unlikely to displace any of their summer arrivals – Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo or Benjamin Sesko – from Ruben Amorim’s first XI.

Instead, the Red Devils are believed to be eyeing Semenyo as a left wing-back, to offer more options going forward and replace the more defensive-minded Diogo Dalot.

The Portuguese international has been United’s main option on the left flank this term, with Patrick Dorgu rooted to the bench in recent weeks amid public criticism from Amorim.

Semenyo’s arrival would give United another attacking option at wing-back, along with Amad Diallo, who has mostly been playing on the right this season.

Manchester United could also be busy in terms of outgoings in January, with Serie A champions Napoli making progress in talks to sign midfielder Kobbie Mainoo.
