Manchester United have just over two weeks to go before the January transfer window closes, and a host of players are still being linked with moves to Old Trafford. The deadline for United and the rest of the Premier League to complete their transfer business is February 2.

United have a new head coach at the helm with Michael Carrick appointed earlier this week on an interim basis until the end of the season.

Carrick’s first match in charge of United will be on Saturday lunchtime against Manchester City in the Manchester derby in the Premier League.

Away from the action on the pitch, United are still seeing their names being linked with a host of potential new signings during the January transfer window.

Victor Osimhen verdict

United legend Rio Ferdinand is confident that Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen will move to Old Trafford.

On his YouTube channel Rio Presents, Ferdinand was joined by former Premier League striker Asamoah Gyan who gave his verdict on why he believes United could be a future destination for Osimhen.

“Victor Osimhen, he loves scoring goals, he plays with his heart, and gives everything. I’m surprised big clubs didn’t go for him in this transfer window,” said Gyan.

“But hopefully, I’m feeling Manchester United too, only if he wants to come because of their history and everything.”

Ferdinand went on to agree with Gyan with his verdict about Osimhen, who has been linked with a move to United in the past.

“Osimhen will come to United,” Ferdinand said. “If United offer to take Osimhen, he would go, 100%.”

United ‘interested’ in Sheffield Wednesday star

United are being linked with a move for Sheffield Wednesday defender Yisa Alao, who is said to be attracting interest from other Premier League clubs.

The Sheffield Star have reported that Wednesday have hopes of keeping Alao at the club despite United being in the running to sign the 17-year-old.

It has been claimed that Chelsea and Liverpool are also in the running to sign Alao, but it adds that the young defender has no plans to leave Wednesday despite the interest from the Premier League trio.

United, Chelsea and Liverpool are all reported to have made an undisclosed offer which is said to be in the “mid-level six-figure” area.

Alao, a left-back by trade, has made four appearances for Wednesday’s first-team this season, including one in the Championship.
