Man Utd Women international round up | 3 December 2025
Maya Le Tissier made her first start at Wembley Stadium for England earlier in this international break, and Sarina Wiegman gave our captain the nod once again in the Lionesses’ friendly against Ghana at St Mary’s Stadium, Southampton.
She was joined in the starting XI by Jess Park, in a relatively young side, with Ella Toone an unused substitute. England won the meeting 2-0, with Aston Villa midfielder Lucia Kendall netting the opener, and former Red Alessia Russo notching the second from the spot in stoppage-time.
Sweden played the second match of a two-legged third-place Nations League play-off against France, going into the clash 2-1 down. The two nations met Stockholm at the 3Arena, and the Swedes forced the game into extra-time through goals from substitutes Evelyn Ijeh and Rosa Kafaji.
Anna Sandberg started the game, along with Julia Zigiotti, who showed a steely determination with nine tackles made in the match, more than any other player on the pitch, and Fridolina Rolfo, who was withdrawn on the hour mark. Sadly, however, their efforts were undone in the extra period, with Kelly Gago levelling the match for France, enough to hand Les Bleues the win on aggregate, who had Melvine Malard on the bench throughout.
