Man Utd Would Make “Big Mistake” Letting Kobbie Mainoo Leave

Manchester United content creator and I’m A Celebrity winner Angry Ginge has warned that the club would be making a “big mistake” if they allow Kobbie Mainoo to leave permanently, following reports the midfielder is open to a move away from Old Trafford.

Speaking exclusively to GiveMeSport at Baller League, Ginge admitted it would be “heartbreaking” to see Mainoo depart and insisted the academy graduate deserves better opportunities under Ruben Amorim.

Asked whether he understands Mainoo’s willingness to consider an exit, Ginge was unequivocal.

“Yeah, I think to see Kobbie leave would be absolutely heartbreaking, especially considering we know how good he is,” he told GMS.

“We know the potential of him. If he leaves, I’ll be genuinely gutted.”

Ginge compared Mainoo’s situation to other academy graduates who have had to make career-defining decisions, noting that young talent often isn’t given the pathway they deserve.

He said Mainoo is “not being given a choice” under the current circumstances, suggesting the midfielder’s lack of consistent gametime may be forcing the issue.

With speculation building over how Amorim will handle Mainoo’s future, Ginge urged the club to avoid making the same mistake Pep Guardiola made with Cole Palmer.

“If you have Kobbie leave permanently, I think you’ve made a big mistake,” he said.

“Pep did it with Cole Palmer and now I’m sure he’s regretting it.”

Ginge believes Mainoo has the ability to become “one of the greatest players in the world” and insisted a loan move would only make sense under the right conditions.

“A loan move would be right if the club’s there for him,” he added, while making clear his real wish:

“I just want him to get that United shirt on and play.”

A message that echoes the concerns of United fans

Mainoo’s situation has been a major talking point among Manchester United supporters, especially with Rúben Amorim preparing for tactical changes and weighing up January decisions.

Many fans believe the 20-year-old should be central to United’s rebuild – not a casualty of squad reshaping. Ginge’s comments reflect growing anxiety that the club could repeat mistakes of the past by allowing a young star to flourish elsewhere.

With Mainoo reportedly open to leaving and interest expected in January and the summer, United now face a critical decision over a player widely viewed as one of the brightest talents to emerge from Carrington in years.
