Marcus Rashford has been a problem for Manchester United for ‘years’, it has been claimed.
The England international’s form has seen a dramatic decline since his impressive 2022/23 campaign, where he netted 30 goals across all competitions.
His struggles have continued under new management, with Rashford not featuring for United since being left out of the squad for the Manchester City match on December 15.
The forward has faced heavy criticism for his poor performances this season, marking a stark contrast to his prolific form just 18 months ago.

Manchester United reporter Andy Mitten has revealed that Rashford’s difficulties with management extend far beyond his current situation.
“Every previous manager has had issues with Marcus Rashford. I’ve spoken to them, I know them, they’ve told me in confidence going back years and years,” Mitten told talkSPORT.
The Athletic journalist suggests current manager Amorim has taken a firm stance on the situation.

“I do think that the manager has had a big say here,” Mitten said. “I think he is doing it his way and he’s a smiling assassin, he’s a disciplinarian.”
According to Mitten, Rashford’s standing with Manchester United supporters has significantly deteriorated.
“Marcus Rashford is not celebrated by United fans as he was, his stock is clearly very, very low,” Mitten explained.

He highlighted the fickle nature of fan support, noting how quickly opinions can shift.
“When he scored after three or four minutes, those very same fans were singing Marcus Rashford’s name… football fans are like that, they change their tune very quickly,” he said.
Mitten added that while this season hasn’t been “disastrous” for Rashford, he remains “nowhere near the levels that he would have hoped for.”

Despite potential interest from elite clubs, Rashford’s departure from Manchester United faces significant economic hurdles.
“Now, if you’ve got Real Madrid or Paris Saint-Germain or Barcelona lining up going, ‘We’d love to take him.’ But the reality, the economics of it, they just do not add up,” Mitten revealed.
The situation is complicated by Rashford’s substantial contract at United, with the 27-year-old currently one of their highest earners.

“I don’t know what the outcome is going to be, he signed a huge contract, and a lot of them have signed huge contracts, and this makes fans uncomfortable,” Mitten added.
These financial complexities could prove to be a major obstacle in securing his desired move away from Old Trafford.
Whether Rashford is involved in United’s Premier League showdown with Newcastle tonight remains to be seen.
