Mo Salah’s Mixed Zone Comments Go Viral After Liverpool 2-0 Brighton
Mohamed Salah was on the pitch for over an hour as Liverpool beat Brighton & Hove Albion in their Premier League clash at Anfield on Saturday afternoon.
The Egyptian forward was left out of the Reds’ squad for their Champions League match against Inter Milan in midweek after his controversial interview following their game against Leeds.
Salah returned to the Liverpool squad for their game against Brighton as he was named on the bench. He unexpectedly entered the fray inside the opening half-hour as he replaced the injured Joe Gomez.
He was given a warm reception from Liverpool fans as he made his way onto the pitch and he went on to bag an assist as he helped his side to a 2-0 victory.
Salah stayed on the pitch for longer than usual after the final whistle as he paid tribute to the Liverpool fans inside Anfield. The Egyptian had a smile on his face as he thanked the home crowd for their support.
Salah remained in good spirits after the match and a video of him walking through the mixed zone following the game is going viral.
Footage has emerged of Salah being asked by reporters whether he had two minutes to speak to him. Salah, with a beaming smile on his face, exclaimed: “Oh my god”. After his interview in the mixed zone last week caused such an uproar, he decided not to stop this time round as he added: “Two weeks in a row? No, no, no.”
Salah’s comments had the reporters in attendance cracking up as one responded: “We’ll see you again soon!”
Arne Slot Speaks Out About Salah After Liverpool 2-0 Brighton
Unsurprisingly, Arne Slot was asked multiple questions about Salah following the game. In his post-match press conference, the Dutchman was asked whether he was satisfied that all issues had been resolved.
He replied, per This is Anfield: “There is no issue to resolve, for me he is now same as any other player. You talk to your players if you are happy or unhappy with things, but there is nothing for me to talk about what happened after Leeds.”
When asked whether he hopes Salah will be back after Egypt’s Africa Cup of Nations campaign, Slot added: “Yes. He’s a Liverpool player and when he’s there, I like to use him when we need him.
“Today he didn’t start, as he did a few times before now, but in the season before he started almost every game, but when he came on, he had a performance like you would want him to give.
“He was close to another assist, I think he was shocked to see Virgil next to him! He was a threat and that’s very important because if you play with your attackers you hope they are a threat.”
He added: “I think our players worked incredibly hard today to keep a clean sheet, and for the first time in weeks, maybe I should say months, we had a little bit of luck with that as well.
“Today we definitely conceded chances, but they didn’t go in. Mo’s going to go to AFCON now, I hope he’s going to do very well and, in the meantime, we have to play here without him with not that many players available at the moment.”
Liverpool will now be without Salah for at least their next few matches. The Reds are currently sixth in the Premier League table and will be looking to pick up another win in their next match, which comes against Tottenham Hotspur in north London on Saturday December 20.
