Newcastle’s Dan Burn lands role in North-East pantomime
Newcastle defender Dan Burn has secured an appearance in a local pantomime this festive season, taking on a role in a production of Aladdin in his hometown of Blyth.
The 33-year-old will feature as the voice of the Genie in the show, which runs from December 6 to December 28 at The Phoenix Theatre.
Burn will not appear on stage, with his contribution pre-recorded due to Newcastle’s congested Christmas schedule.
Newcastle face Sunderland in the North-East derby on December 14, followed by important Premier League fixtures against Chelsea and Manchester United, whom they play on Boxing Day.
The Phoenix Theatre confirmed Burn’s involvement on social media.
“Blyth’s very own Dan Burn is the voice of the Genie in Aladdin at The Phoenix Theatre this Christmas,” the company said.
“Get ready for wishes, laughter, and a giant dose of Toon magic.
“Tickets are flying faster than a magic carpet.”
Burn signed a new contract with Newcastle in May, extending his stay until summer 2027.
He has become a popular figure at the club and made his England debut in March 2025, shortly after helping Newcastle win the Carabao Cup.
