Newsboy fancies an Andrew Balding four-year-old to come good at Kempton Park in the 7.30 and he also rates a handicap hurdler to follow up in the 3.20 at Catterick Bridge
SHRIMP SHADY looks a tasty bet in the Try Unibet’s New Improved Acca Boosts Handicap (7.30) over 1m 3f at Kempton Park on Wednesday.
The lightly raced four-year-old won on his second outing as a juvenile in a Class 2 event at Windsor, but wasn’t seen again until August last year – more than ten months later.
The son of Mastercraftsman showed a return to form on his most recent outing just before Christmas at Lingfield Park, when a two-length second behind Port of London, having had to pick off rivals ahead of him.
Andrew Balding’s colt should come on considerably for that run with Oisin Murphy back in the saddle.
At Catterick, KUKAANA appeals in the Download Raceday Ready Today Handicap Hurdle (3.20) over two miles.
A decent winner on the Flat, Jonjo and AJ O’Neill’s five year-old had dropped to a competitive mark when a very comfortable six-length winner of a two-mile handicap hurdle at Windsor on New Year ’s Day.
That form has been franked with the runner-up that day winning since. Despite a 9lb rise, there is every reason to expect more to come over the same trip.
