Fiorentina defender Pablo Mari has left the Viola training ground, as he is flying out to join Simone Inzaghi’s Al-Hilal.
The 32-year-old had made 16 competitive appearances for the club so far this season between Serie A and the Conference League, but was not part of their plans going forward.
According to multiple sources including Sky Sport Italia and Tuttomercatoweb, Pablo Mari left the Viola Park training camp this evening and emptied his locker.
He is set to fly out to Saudi Arabia for the transfer to Al-Hilal. Inzaghi was known to be seeking a central defender, and had hoped to reunite with his former Inter players Francesco Acerbi or Stefan de Vrij.
However, those negotiations were part of a potential exchange with Joao Cancelo, and ruined when the Portugal international insisted on going to Barcelona instead.
Pablo Mari has had a long and varied career, playing for the likes of Manchester City, Flamengo, Arsenal, NAC Breda, Monza and since January 2025 for Fiorentina.
His experience in Italy included a horrific incident when he was stabbed in the back while shopping with his wife and young child in October 2022.
