Liverpool’s Paddy Pimblett came up short in his challenge for the interim lightweight championship at UFC 324, but delivered a powerful speech about the importance of men’s mental health in his post-fight interview.

Paddy The Baddy lost a unanimous decision to opponent Justin Gaethje in a Fight of the Year contender in Las Vegas, but was clearly bitterly disappointed when he spoke to UFC announcer Joe Rogan after the defeat.

In a show of class, Pimblett first praised Gaethje for his toughness, remarking that there was nobody that he would rather have lost to. The 31-year-old went on to pay tribute to the late mother of one of his training partners, who recently passed away, before sending out a heartfelt message about mental health.

“This would have been better if I’d won,” he admitted.

“I’ve mentioned in my post-fight interviews before about men killing themselves. Two lads that I know have killed themselves since I last fought,” shared Pimblett.

“So, men, don’t bottle your feelings up. Talk to someone. Don’t kill yourselves.”

Despite his defeat, Paddy insisted that he would be back in the Octagon before too long.
