Paqueta eyes West Ham exit after Flamengo agreement
According to Fabrizio Romano, Lucas Paqueta wants to leave West Ham and has already reached an agreement with Flamengo over personal terms. The talks between the clubs are apparently underway.
Two months ago, Paqueta openly spoke, if unwisely, about his desire to return to Brazil and play for Flamengo once more. He revealed he had spoken to Luis Felipe, his friend and Flamengo head coach, about that, and that he had expressed his desire to his representatives as well.
The 28-year-old attacking midfielder is under contract with West Ham until the summer of 2027, but the Premier League side surely won’t want to keep hold of the player against his wish to return to his homeland – always presuming their demands for the transfer to take place are met.
Paqueta has made a total of 139 appearances for the Hammers in all competitions, scoring 23 goals and producing 15 assists, since arriving to the London Stadium from Olympique Lyon in 2022. He has also played for AC Milan, and has 61 caps as a Brazil international to his name.
