Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola said his side’s win over Fulham gave him every confidence that they can make a Premier League title charge with the help of record-breaker Erling Haaland
Pep Guardiola hailed “insane” Erling Haaland and promised Manchester City will fight Arsenal for the title until the bitter end.
City striker Haaland scored his 100th Premier League goal in a record-breaking 111 games in a Premier League classic at Craven Cottage. Fulham staged a sensational fight back as they came back from 1-5 down to give City an almighty scare, only for Guardiola’s men to hold on and move within two points of leaders Arsenal.
City boss Guardiola said: “When Erling arrived, if you had told me he would score 100 goals in 111 games, I would say: ‘Are you sure?’ “The numbers are insane. Insane. Erling is one of the best, his numbers are incredible and what he has done is amazing.”

Guardiola joked that the drama would make him lose his hair and admitted he could not enjoy the game despite the win and late drama.
“Enjoy it? Impossible. 5-1 yeah, but 5-4, I was watching the clock more than the game. Of course, it was nice. Now it has been tough, it would have been tougher if we could not get the result but I will remember I was there,” said Guardiola.
However, Guardiola insisted it was not because his defence is vulnerable, but rather a story of the Premier League, and he is convinced they can win the title again. Guardiola added: “Even when we won with 100 points, we had games where we were 3-0 up and went to 3-2. It’s always like this. It’s the Premier League.
“Arsenal are so strong and so solid. We have to put in our mindset that it will be difficult but at the same time the Premier League is so long. I am the oldest manager in the Premier League and have enough experience to make a long run to try to fight to win the Premier League. It is so long.
“Chelsea impress me more and more every day with Enzo Maresca, it’s long. Many things will happen. We won six Premier Leagues, four or five when we were in January or February we were behind.
“The team who wins the Premier League is the team who grow during the months and this is what we try to do. No injuries, it’s so long. If we push, we will be better and push ourselves and control the situations better.”
Fulham boss Marco Silva added: “What the players showed was impressive. The reaction was unbelievable. We deserved a fifth goal. Unfortunately we didn’t get it.”
