Pep Guardiola’s relationship with wife Cristina Serra remains ‘totally cordial, stable and friendly’ after the couple ‘split’, according to reports.

Reports in Spain claimed on Monday that the Manchester City boss and his other half had gone their separate ways.

It’s claimed five years of living apart has taken a toll on the couple, with Guardiola working in England while his wife had stayed in Spain.

Serra, according to Sport, has been living in Barcelona full time since 2019.

But while the couple are reportedly no longer together, it’s said that their relationship remains ‘totally cordial, stable and friendly’.

Guardiola and his wife met back in 1994.

They have three children together, daughters Maria (24) and Valentina (17), as well as son Marius (22).

The report also claims that those within the family’s inner circle were made aware of the split, which reportedly happened in December.

Friends and family have also supposedly been told not to disclose any additional information.

Serra initially lived with Guardiola in Manchester but is said to have left for Barcelona in 2019 to help oversee the fashion company owned by her family, Serra Claret.

Guardiola had been widely expected to leave City at the end of the current season.

However, he surprised everybody by penning an extension back in November that ties him to the reigning Premier League champions until 2027.

City have struggled for consistency this term, even if they remain one of the best teams on the planet.

They currently sit sixth in the Premier League table, having won just 10 of their 20 league matches.

City’s iffy form has also transcended over to the Champions League, with the 2023 winners 22nd in the standings.

That’s enough for them to make the play-offs but Paris Saint-Germain and Stuttgart, who are both currently outside those qualifying positions, are just a point behind them.

“You have to score goals and make assists – just to rely on the goals of Haaland is impossible.

“The biggest clubs that win the league have strikers that score goals like Sergio [Aguero] and Gabriel Jesus but also Riyad [Mahrez], Raheem [Sterling], Leroy [Sane], Gundogan.

“A lot of players score a lot of goals and we need that.”
