Darts legend Phil Taylor has secured a new punditry role with the Modus Super Series after turning down an offer from Sky Sports.

The 16-time world champion, who announced his full retirement from the sport in 2024, will be joining the tournament that features over 100 matches across a 50-week period.

Taylor’s new position comes after his departure from competitive play on the World Seniors Tour, where he competed following his initial PDC retirement.

The 64-year-old will be working with Pluto TV, which streams the Modus events.

“I’m involved with Pluto TV, who are streaming all the stuff for MODUS,” Taylor told The Daily Mirror.

“It’s a free live stream, and they play some of the old stuff too. My grandkids love it,” he added.

The Power will make his debut at the League of Legends Finals Night this Saturday.

“I’ll be there, you’re not getting rid of me that easily,” Taylor said.

“I’ll be doing some punditry, hosting the show and commentating on a few games, whatever they ask me to do really.”

Despite Sky Sports’ interest in securing Taylor as a pundit, the darts icon declined their offer due to the demanding schedule.

The decision reflects Taylor’s wish for a more balanced lifestyle following his complete retirement from competitive darts.

Taylor has also shared his thoughts on the sport’s new sensation, Luke Littler, drawing parallels with football legend Wayne Rooney.

“Luke has a tremendous temperament. He’s a cracking little lad. For a 17-year-old, he’s brilliant,” Taylor said.

The darts icon noted the similarities between Littler and a young Rooney: “I can see parallels. They come across as really nice people, which they are. But when they’re on that pitch or the dartboard, they are killers!”

Littler, who recently won the World Darts Championship, is currently ranked No 2 in the PDC Order of Merit, behind Luke Humphries.

“You have to go out and beat him. You cannot expect them to play bad against you. Because they won’t,” Taylor added.
