Pisa 0-3 Como – Fabregas plays down expectations

Cesc Fabregas was keen to keep expectations in check after Como’s impressive 3-0 win away to Pisa, insisting the focus must remain on development rather than league position.
The victory moves Como into fourth place, continuing a strong run of form, but Fabregas made it clear he is not interested in the table at this stage.
“The numbers are the numbers,” the Como coach said, with quotes via AlfredoPedulla.com.
“The most important thing is that the team keeps growing.” Fabregas praised Pisa’s approach, acknowledging the challenges his side faced before breaking the game open. “Pisa did very well. They fought hard and spent a lot of energy,” he explained.
“We had to find solutions by changing a few things to play better between the lines. The goal arrived, but a bit of superficiality then caused problems, like conceding the penalty. These are small details that can make the difference.”
Despite Como’s lofty position, Fabregas dismissed any talk of title ambitions.
“I swear I never look at the table,” he said. “One of the staff told me today and I said: stop. It’s not the moment to talk about that objective. Teams like Inter with Chivu, Juventus, Napoli and Milan can talk about winning the Scudetto. We can’t. We have a plan and a process.”
Looking further ahead, Fabregas reiterated the club’s desire to develop more Italian talent. “I agree completely. It’s part of our future plan,” he said. “We’re in Italy and it’s right that many Italian players represent Como. Hopefully we can talk about this again in two or three years with different perspectives.”
Fabregas also reserved special praise for Anastasios Douvikas, who continues to shine in attack.
“I’m very happy for him,” he said. “He works incredibly hard for the team and has the right mentality. At 26, he still has a lot of room to improve.”
