Rangers need ‘extreme’ bid to land “massive talent”

All is well again at Ibrox, with Glasgow Rangers now enjoying real momentum under new boss Danny Rohl, following the early-season chaos.

The Premiership title contenders have arguably been playing catch-up following the disaster that was Russell Martin’s reign, although with just one league defeat since Rohl took charge, the Light Blues are back in their stride again.

A key factor in this recent resurgence has been the German’s ability to get a tune out of the Gers’ summer recruits, with Youssef Chermiti netting twice in the derby, while the previously overlooked Emmanuel Fernandez has stepped up of late, scoring five times from his centre-back berth.

Following his own difficult start, Old Firm hero Mikey Moore has also begun to dazzle off that left flank, with the only frustration being that the teenager is likely set to return to parent club Tottenham Hotspur at the end of the season.

No matter, the Glasgow giants could ease the future pain of losing the 18-year-old by snapping up another exciting young winger this month.

Tuur Lommens and Tochi Chukwuani are already in the door, as too is Andreas Skov Olsen, although Rohl has still stressed the need for further signings before the window is out.

There had been claims that Sheffield Wednesday’s Yan Valery was keen on a reunion with his former boss at Ibrox, although it remains to be seen if the interest in the right-back goes any further.

The 26-year-old was named by TEAMtalk as one of the players that Rangers could look to as Rohl eyes another statement signing, with Hungarian starlet Damir Redzic the other figure still said to be on their ‘radar’.

As per the report, the Gers still ‘hold an interest’ in the 22-year-old, although there has been no progress made in any deal as yet, with Celtic one of the clubs that are also vying for his signature.

In terms of an asking price, Dunajska Streda boss Branislav Fodrek has suggested that only an “extreme” offer would tempt the Slovak outfit into a sale. It was previously reported that they were looking for around £4.3m.

It’s been a mixed season for Rangers’ current crop of wingers, with Oliver Antman still yet to score for his new club, while Djeidi Gassama has been a shadow of the player who dazzled in Champions League qualifying, even despite reuniting with Rohl.

With Rabbi Matondo also largely out in the cold, the shining light on the flanks has undoubtedly been Moore, with the Spurs youngster scoring three goals from just 11 Premiership starts, while chalking up one assist.

There’s a truly exciting, fearless quality to his game down that left-hand side, as seen in him notably averaging 1.1 successful dribbles per game, as per Sofascore.

Such traits are no doubt shared by Redzic, who typically lines up on the opposite flank, with the promising Hungarian a “massive talent” in his own right, in the view of journalist Bence Bocsak.

Like Moore, he can operate out wide or in a more central role behind the striker, harming opposition backlines in either role with his own dribbling prowess and trickery.

Indeed, his ball-carrying brilliance is seen in him averaging a stellar 2.6 successful dribbles per game this season in the Slovakian top-flight, showcasing why Bocask believes he will be “earning a big move soon”.

In just 14 league outings in 2025/26 too, he has already scored seven times and provided one assist, with that latter tally somewhat unfair considering he has actually created three ‘big chances’, while averaging 2.1 key passes per game.

There is so much to like about the £4.3m man, not least his work out of possession, having averaged 3.9 ball recoveries per game, a similar record to Moore’s own return of 3.6 in the Premiership.

The more experienced Skov Olsen, signed on loan until the end of the season, might be the main man off the right over the coming months, although it would be no surprise to see Redzic run him close for a starting berth, if a deal can be done.

Equally too, his ability to feature off a centre-forward ensures there is the exciting prospect of all three men, including Moore, lining up together, thus breathing new life into Rohl’s stuttering forward line.
