Rangers now bracing themselves for Fernandez blow as Borrusia Dortmund send scouts

Rangers are now bracing themselves for a transfer blow after Borussia Dortmund sent scouts to watch one of Danny Rohl‘s stars, according to reports.

Rangers receive Chermiti offer

It wasn’t so long ago that Chermiti looked destined to become a big-money transfer flop at Ibrox and another one of Kevin Thelwell’s failures. Things have since changed, however, and the forward now has Old Firm goals to his name and is growing in confidence under Rohl.

There’s still plenty of work for the former Everton man to do if he is to win Ibrox over, of course, but there’s no denying that he’s shown far more potential since a managerial change in Scotland.

So much so that the Gers have reportedly received a late offer from Fenerbahce to cash in on their striker. According to recent reports, the Turkish giants have tabled an offer worth £13m to sign Chermiti – £5m more than what Rangers paid in the summer – but have been told that he is not for sale.

It’s a decision which has left many surprised, though the reality is that Rangers were always unlikely to accept the first offer for one of their most expensive ever arrivals just six months after securing his signature.

It shows clear backing in their forward to come good and he must now repay that faith in the coming months as the Gers battle to overtake league leaders Hearts in the Scottish Premiership.

The Glasgow giants are ready to accept a potential last-gasp offer.

Alas, the decision to keep Chermiti may not be the end of the transfer drama at Ibrox. Reports are now claiming that there is interest in the likes of Djeidi Gassama and that Borussia Dortmund are interested in another Rangers star.

Borussia Dortmund plotting Emmanuel Fernandez move

As reported by the Scottish Sun, Borussia Dortmund are now plotting a move to sign Emmanuel Fernandez after sending their scouts to watch the Rangers centre-back alongside Bayer Leverkusen.

The two Bundesliga giants have clearly been impressed by the 24-year-old, who has become a key player under Rohl after completing a move from Peterborough in the summer, and could now make their move.

Whilst Russell Martin failed to win Ibrox over in a disastrous spell, he did get one thing right – and that was his praise for Fernandez. After welcoming the defender, the former manager said: “Emmanuel is a young defender with a huge amount of potential, and I am excited to welcome him to the club.

“He has a strong physical presence, is a commanding defender and I believe in this environment we can help him develop and provide him with the opportunities to take his game to the next level. I’m looking forward to welcoming him into the group and getting to work.”

Keeping hold of him, as well as Chermiti and others, should undoubtedly be the priority this week.
