Rangers Table Bid to Sign Emil Bohinen
Rangers have tabled a bid to sign Venezia midfield star Emil Bohinen as they look to upgrade on Joe Rothwell in January, according to Calcio Spezia.
The Glasgow giants have had a rollercoaster of a season so far after signing 13 players in the summer window, before sacking Russell Martin as manager and bringing in Danny Rohl following a horrific start.
The German has since stabilised things, earning eight wins in his last 11 games to move to within six points of the top of the Scottish Premiership, and now he is looking to bolster his squad in the January window to put together a charge for the title.
Rangers Table Bid for Emil Bohinen
One of the main positions that the manager is keen to strengthen is central midfield, and it has now emerged that Venezia midfielder Bohinen is a target.
The Norwegian has been a bit-part player for the Serie A side this season on loan, and that has alerted Rangers to the possibility of bringing him in for the second half of the season and bolstering Rohl’s side, with an ‘important’ offer already being put on the table by the Glasgow side.
That comes after the decision was made for Rohl to axe Joe Rothwell from his Rangers squad after his arrival, with the former Bournemouth and Leeds star having featured just once as a substitute since he took over as manager.
That suggests that a January exit could well be on the cards for the Ibrox summer signing, and Rohl would be ready to upgrade on him with the arrival of Bohinen if they can get a deal done for the rapid 26-year-old.
Big Upgrade Could Win Rangers the Title
There’s no doubting that Rangers aren’t expected to win the title this season considering the start they have had, but with some big changes to the squad and some new faces for Rohl, there is a real chance they can actually do it.
Rohl has done a great job so far to get Rangers back on track using the pieces of the puzzle he already has, but adding in the profiles of player that he feels he is missing could help take them up to the next level too.
January is going to be key for the club, and if the board can deliver the types of signings he wants, then it could see them move ahead of the curve and really give them a head start on getting back to the top of Scottish football.
