Wednesday’s reports claim that Milan are in contact with the entourage of current Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker, who is being eyed as the ideal replacement for Mike Maignan, who is approaching the final few months of his Rossoneri contract.
The Rossoneri signed Maignan for a fee in the region of €15 from Lille in 2021 as a replacement for the recently-departed Gianluigi Donnarumma. The Frenchman signed a five-year contract in San Siro, which is due to expire in the summer of 2026.
Talks over a contract extension for the sought-after 30-year-old have been ongoing for several months, albeit to no effect. As things stand, the player and club are still several million Euros apart on salary demands according to recent updates.
With reports that the likes of Chelsea, Juventus, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain could all be interested in a deal for Maignan on a free transfer at the end of the season, Milan are left with an increasingly likely possibility that they will have to bring in a new keeper themselves over the summer.
According to reports from Sahca Tavolieri, Milan are targeting a move for Liverpool’s Alisson in the event that Maignan leaves on a free transfer. The Brazilian, 33, has just over a year remaining on his Liverpool deal, which leaves the Rossoneri confident that Liverpool will not seek an overly-excessive fee, particularly given that they have effectively already signed his successor in Giorgi Mamardashvili.
According to Wednesday’s report, Milan have already established contact with Alisson’s entourage, and are hoping to secure a deal sooner rather than later.
Alisson already has Serie A experience on his CV from the two seasons that he spent with Roma between 2016 and 2018.
He spent most of the 2016-17 campaign serving as an understudy to Wojciech Szczesny, but became Roma’s undisputed first-choice after the Pole’s move to Juventus in 2017. Liverpool then came knocking the following summer, luring the Brazilian away from the Stadio Olimpico for a fee of €72.5m.
