Roy Keane has backed Pep Guardiola after a video recently emerged showing the Manchester City boss raging at autograph hunters.

Guardiola is currently in the spotlight amid rumours he’s split from his wife, while City have struggled to scale their usual heights in the Premier League this term.

Recently, a video emerged showing the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich boss hitting out at autograph hunters who had targeted him near his home.

The 53-year-old, in the clip, said: “Don’t come again, I won’t tell you again, I know your faces.

“Go to school and prepare yourself guys. You are young guys so don’t be here, wasting time.

“Do you want to live your life doing this honestly?

“Let’s continue to do it. Prepare better. F***ing hell man, this isn’t for all the people this is for you.

“What are your dreams? Tell me, what is it? Where do you dream my friend? Practice, f***ing hell, practice.”

And Keane, speaking on the Stick to Football podcast, has now backed Guardiola and insists the City boss was in the right.

“Good on Pep Guardiola for lecturing the autograph hunters – they are an absolute nuisance,” opined the Manchester United legend.

“You see them everywhere and he’s dead right.

“Years ago, if you wanted a jersey or a photograph, there was an element of respect. There isn’t that respect now.

“Now there’s people waiting in the car parks.

“Also, is that his house? It’s awful if they know where people are living now. They’re idiots, well done Pep.”

Guardiola isn’t the only football figure to fume at autograph hunters.

After moving from Chelsea to Manchester United back in 2023, Mason Mount was filmed snapping at a group who had pursued him.

It’s understood that Mount had been more than happy to sign merchandise for a group of fans at first.

But they kept coming back and the England international was caught on camera telling them to go home, rather than bothering him.

Meanwhile, City have endured a mixed season so far.

On Tuesday night they dropped more points in the race to qualify for next season’s Champions League in a 2-2 draw with Brentford.

City are next in action against Ipswich on Sunday (4.30pm).

They previously beat the Tractor Boys 4-1 in August, with Erling Haaland netting a sensational hat-trick and Kevin De Bruyne also on target.
