Ruben Amorim ‘Ready to Change’ Man Utd System to Sign Antoine Semenyo
Manchester United are willing to change their system if they can convince Bournemouth forward Antoine Semenyo to join the club in the January transfer window, Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has confirmed.
The race to sign Semenyo is heating up, with GIVEMESPORT sources confirming that Tottenham, Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United, Manchester City, and Liverpool all hold different levels of interest. It’s believed United and City are the current frontrunners, with Chelsea the latest club to make an initial enquiry.
The Bournemouth attacker has a £65m release clause in his contract, which is active in the first 10 days of the January transfer window. The fee then decreases heading into the summer, but it appears that there is a strong chance that one of the aforementioned clubs secures his signature before then.
Man Utd Could Change System to Accommodate Semenyo
Speaking on his TikTok channel, Romano has confirmed that Manchester United and Amorim could look to change their system if they are able to convince Semenyo to join the club. The Red Devils, are in talks with Semenyo, are pushing to secure his signature ahead of the other clubs that are keen.
“Manchester United are pushing and ready to change the system if they can convince Semenyo.”
Semenyo could be utilised in one of the wing-back roles at Old Trafford, but there’s no doubt he’d be more effective further up the pitch. Amorim would then have to try to fit Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha, alongside Semenyo, in the side, meaning a formation and system change could be beneficial.

System Change Worth it for Semenyo
Semenyo, described as a ‘superstar’ by journalist Graeme Bailey, is enjoying a sensational season with Bournemouth, providing 11 goals and assists combined in 16 Premier League appearances. His Premier League experience, meaning he shouldn’t take too long to adapt, could be crucial ahead of the second half of the campaign.
Fitting Mbeumo, Cunha, and Semenyo into the same side won’t be easy, but it’s a nice headache for Amorim to have. There’s no doubt that it’s worth Amorim tinkering with the system, rather than deploying Semenyo in an unfamiliar wing-back role. The Ghanaian forward has been too impressive in his favoured position not to utilise him there if they do splash the cash and bring him to Old Trafford.
