Sassuolo have announced that captain Domenico Berardi will be out until 2026 after he was diagnosed with a medium level lesion of the flexor.
The veteran forward sustained the latest injury during Friday’s 2-0 Serie A defeat to Como, limping off after 51 minutes.
Tests were performed and the diagnosis came back of a medium level lesion of the flexor in the right leg.
He has already started the rehabilitation process and his condition will be evaluated daily, but it is extremely unlikely he’ll be back in action before 2026.
Berardi is an icon for Sassuolo and has already contributed four goals with three assists in 11 Serie A appearances so far this season.
This is his third injury lay-off of the campaign after a knee issue and a knock to the head. The 31-year-old has spent his entire career in the Sassuolo jersey, as although he was co-owned by Juventus for a spell from 2013 to 2015, he never actually played a competitive game for the Bianconeri.
