The Australia cricket legend’s family are close friends with the pop star
Shane Warne’s children are reportedly desperate to hook their mum up with one of the world ’s most famous singers – and they believe their late dad would approve.
According to Australian magazine New Idea , Brooke and Jackson Warne would “love” to see their mother Simone Callahan hit it off with Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, newly single after splitting from long-term actress partner Dakota Johnson over the summer.
The claim comes after Warne’s three children – Brooke, 28, Jackson, 26 and Summer, 24 – attended nine of Coldplay’s sell-out Wembley Stadium gigs alongside their yoga-loving mum, aged 55.

Photos posted by the kids on social media show the family cosying up to the 48-year-old singer backstage – with Chris offering a supportive arm around good friend Simone.
“Chris has been looking out for them,” a source close to the family told the publication. “Whenever there’s an opportunity to see them or have them at his shows, he makes it happen.
“They’ve seen how Simone lights up when she’s around Chris, so they’d love to see her finally happy again with a good bloke like him.”
Chris and legendary Aussie cricketer Shane were close pals before the spin king’s tragic death from a sudden heart attack in Thailand in 2022. The Devon-born singer even performed a moving rendition of Coldplay’s hit ‘Yellow’ at Warne’s funeral and paid tribute to his mate during a concert at Melbourne’s Marvel Stadium last month.
“The kids also know their dad Shane would approve. He always wanted Simone to find the happiness she deserved,” the source added. Simone and Shane married in 1999 but divorced in 2005. The couple briefly reconciled four years later but soon separated for good after Shane sent Simone a raunchy text meant for another woman.
Speaking to Men’s Health magazine a year before his death, the iconic leg spinner opened up on his close friendship with pop star Chris. “When I catch up with Chris Martin, who is one of my best friends, we do something really simple. When I go down to his place in LA, we go for a walk up a hill,” he said.
“He’ll go, ‘Right, my five first’, and he will say the five things that are on his mind, whether that’s a block in music writing, whether it’s his children, whatever. You talk about normal things like everyone else does. The thing about friendship is real friends never judge.
“I don’t judge my friends and they don’t judge me. But they know I’m always there for them, and I know they’re there for me. And even if you haven’t spoken for a year, when you do catch up it’s like you saw them yesterday.”
Regarded as one of the greatest bowlers of all time, Warne ended his glittering cricket career with 145 Test appearances and 708 wickets. He died in March 2022 while holidaying in Thailand after suffering a heart attack later determined by an autopsy to be a natural occurrence.
