Simon Jordan Blames 'Karma' After Alexander Isak's Liverpool Injury

Pundit Simon Jordan has come under fire for suggesting that “karma” was at play when Alexander Isak picked up a bad injury vs Tottenham Hotspur over the weekend. The Liverpool striker hurt himself as he scored in the 2-1 away victory against Spurs, suffering what is feared to be a broken leg.

The Swedish ace was caught late by Tottenham defender Micky Van de Ven as he fired the Reds into the lead on Saturday evening, and immediately had to come off with what has now been confirmed as a fibula fracture. It’s understood that Isak will now spend

several months on the sidelines, having suffered this significant setback.

It’s been a stop-start early period at Liverpool for Isak since his Premier League record transfer in the summer, and he will now likely be out for months. Even so, not everyone has sympathy for the forward, it seems.

Speaking on TalkSport, pundit and former Crystal Palace owner Jordan suggested Isak was, to some degree, getting what he deserved for his behaviour in the summer. The striker forced a move away from Newcastle ahead of the 2025/26 season, informing the club that he had no intention to play for the Magpies going forward.

The Swede accused the club of breaking promises, and missed out on pre-season under Eddie Howe, until eventually getting his Anfield move, arriving for a British-record deal worth £125m. Just two league goals have come for Isak since, though. Following this latest injury set-back, Jordan spoke about “karma” when discussing the player’s misfortune:

“I’m desperately trying to avoid myself disappearing into the ghost of Jacob Marley, and looking at the karma of Alexander Isak’s position in terms of not landing at Liverpool and achieving very much. He now potentially finds himself out for the season. I’m desperately trying to avoid that version of myself.

“I don’t want anyone breaking their legs, but I also look at the dynamics of how people behave and think, sometimes, that what goes around comes around. That’s mean-spirited, I know.”

He then went on to explain the alternative options Liverpool can play instead of Isak in the mean-time, adding:

“So then you move onto the situation surrounding Liverpool. They’re not exactly devoid of a decent squad. The Isak transaction is always what they were prepared to spend. It’s not £125million down the drain because it will come again. It’s just an unfortunate set of circumstances where they have Mohamed Salah thinking he can say whatever he wants, you’ve got Cody Gakpo who hasn’t been in the best form and (Hugo) Ekitikke who probably thought he should be the man anyways.”

Unsurprisingly, Jordan’s blunt take on the matter – ‘mean-spirited’ by his own account – has not gone down particularly well with fans online. One called it: “Disgusting.” While another was far from impressed with the “Horrible comments.”

A third remarked: “What a classless individual, who says such things.” And a fourth said: “What a really odd thing to come out with.”

One summed up the mood, saying:

“He REALLY went there???? Wow. What a horrible comment. No player deserves to be badly injured. Grim stuff from Jordan.”

Some were so unimpressed, they suggested that he should lose his job. One said: “He needs sacking.” A final fan conluded: “Needs sacked by Talksport.”
