Steph Curry’s split with Under Armour has left him shaken, but he could follow Draymond Green’s advice and return to Nike
Steph Curry‘s departure from Under Armour has sent shockwaves through both the sports and business worlds.
After more than a decade as the face of the company’s basketball division, the four-time NBA champion decided to end his 13-year partnership, citing frustration with the breakdown of negotiations over a new deal.

The move not only closes a significant chapter in Curry‘s career but also leaves the future of his signature shoe line in question and opens up the possibility of a high-profile reunion with one of the industry’s biggest names.
Curry joined Under Armour in 2013 after leaving Nike, a decision that reshaped the basketball sneaker landscape.
His partnership helped elevate the company’s visibility in the NBA market, culminating in the creation of his own brand, Curry Brand, under the Under Armour umbrella.
But with his departure now official, speculation is running wild over where the two-time MVP will land next.
Speaking publicly about the decision, Curry admitted some disappointment about how talks with Under Armour ended, suggesting that the separation was less than amicable.
ESPN‘s Kendrick Perkins said he believed Curry‘s reaction was justified, given how much he had done for the brand.
“He was in his feelings. Rightfully so, because that negotiation probably didn’t go the way he planned that it was going to go,” Perkins said on Road Trippin’.
A new chapter for one of the game’s biggest names
Now a sneaker free agent for the first time in over a decade, Curry‘s next move could reshape the business side of his legacy. The most obvious potential destination is Nike, the dominant force in the basketball shoe industry and the company that initially signed Curry when he entered the league.
Mockups of potential Nike–Curry collaborations have already surfaced online, sparking excitement among fans who remember that his first four NBA seasons were spent with the brand. At the time, however, a poorly handled contract meeting drove Curry to sign with Under Armour. The rest became sneaker history.
Draymond Green wonders what could have been
Curry‘s longtime teammate and close friend Draymond Green has often pondered how different things might look today if the sharpshooter had stayed with Nike from the beginning. Speaking on The Draymond Green Show, he made a bold claim about what Curry‘s business empire could have become.
“It makes you take a step back and wonder what would his business be today had he stayed with Nike?” Green said. “I’ll go out on a limb and say if he was building at Nike, it may be as big as Jordan Brand.”
