Team News and Predicted Lineups

Liverpool and Brighton will go head-to-head at Anfield in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon, with both teams keen to get back to winning ways in the top flight.

Arne Slot‘s side are unbeaten in their last four games in all competitions, but come into this game with just one win in their last five in the Premier League following a 3-3 draw with Leeds United last time out. The Seagulls, on the other hand, have failed to win either of their last two games after defeat to Aston Villa and a draw with West Ham.

Both sides have some injury concerns to deal with too, and this is how GIVEMESPORT expects the teams to line up.

Liverpool Team News

Mo Salah

Liverpool claimed a huge 1-0 win over Inter Milan in the Champions League in midweek without Mohamed Salah, and the Egyptian is expected to be left out once again after his stunning outburst last week.

Conor Bradley is suspended after picking up his fifth yellow card, while Alexander Isak picked up a knock in midweek and will be assessed. Jeremie Frimpong, Cody Gakpo and Wataru Endo are unavailable through injury, while Giovanni Leoni won’t play again this season.

Slot Drops Team News Update

Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Slot shared an update on his squad ahead of the game.

“I will have a conversation with Mo this morning and the outcome of that conversation determines how it will look tomorrow.

“Federico [Chiesa] is not ill anymore. He trained yesterday and he trained today again, so I assume he’s ready to be in the squad tomorrow again. “It’s going to be weeks. With Cody [Gakpo] it’s a muscle injury and Wata [Endo] is an ankle injury.

“Alex [Isak] also got a knock in the first half, so let’s see how he has recovered from that today – if he’s able to start tomorrow and, if he’s able, I make the decision to start them [Isak and Hugo Ekitike] again together, or we do it in a different way.

  • Liverpool Predicted XI: Alisson; Gomez, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson; Gravenberch, Jones; Chiesa, Szoboszlai, Wirtz; Ekitike.
  • Liverpool Predicted Substitutes: Woodman (GK), Mamardashvili (GK), Ramsay (DEF), Kerkez (DEF), Lucky (DEF), Nyoni (MID), Mac Allister (MID), Ngumoha (FWD), Isak (FWD).

With so many injuries in the squad, Slot may be forced to stick with a familiar-looking side from midweek. Salah is expected to be left out, which could hand Federico Chiesa a rare chance to start, while Florian Wirtz should come back into the lineup with the injured Isak unlikely to be risked from the start.

That should see Isak, Alexis Mac Allister and Milos Kerkez, who earn a combined £570,000-a-week, could be the ones providing depth off the bench.

Brighton Team News

Kaoru Mitoma in action for Brighton

Brighton will be able to welcome back a number of players from injury for this game including winger Karou Mitoma and former Liverpool star James Milner.

Yasin Ayari and Tom Watson should also be available, but striker Stefanos Tzimas will miss the rest of the season after rupturing his ACL. Adam Webster and Solly March are also long-term absentees.

Hurzeler Drops Team News Update

Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Hurzeler shared an update on his squad ahead of the game.

“Stefanos Tzimas will miss the whole of the season. I hope he will be back in pre-season.

“He has already started his rehab. He will have surgery soon. We have big trust in the doctors and in our medical department.

“We are quite convinced that he will be back as quickly as possible and in even better shape.”

“We have Kaoru Mitoma, James Milner, Tommy Watson and Yasin Ayari back. That’s the positive news.

“They are definitely options to be in the squad, so we have decisions to make. It will mean some players will be out of the squad, but I think it’s a positive thing that we have to make decisions on which players are in the squad and which players are not.

“Kaoru has overcome the pain issue and he trained well this week, so he will be an option.”

Brighton Predicted XI

  • Brighton Predicted XI: Verbruggen; De Cuyper, Dunk, Van Hecke, Kadioglu; Baleba, Ayari; Minteh, Rutter, Mitoma; Welbeck.
  • Brighton Predicted Substitutes: Steele (GK), Wieffer (DEF), Veltman (DEF), Boscagli (DEF), Milner (MID), Hinshelwood (MID), Gomez (MID), Gruda (MID), Kostoulas (FWD).

With Hurzeler able to welcome several players back, Brighton are likely to go with an attacking lineup to take advantage of Liverpool’s issues in recent weeks.

That could see £150,000-a-week duo Milner and Oliver Boscagli named on the bench.
