Isago Silva is following in the footsteps of his father Thiago, who spent four years at Stamford Bridge
Thiago Silva, the former Chelsea star, has responded to the announcement that his eldest son, Isago, is following in his footsteps by signing his first professional contract with the Blues. The 41-year-old Brazilian defender, who made 155 appearances for Chelsea between 2020 and 2024, currently plays for Fluminense back in his homeland.
Despite his contract set to expire in June 2026, there’s no hint of Thiago hanging up his boots just yet. However, his 17-year-old son Isago is just beginning his journey, having inked his first professional deal with Chelsea.
Isago took to Instagram to share his excitement, writing: “Proud to sign my first pro deal with Chelsea. Hungry for more.”

Chelsea’s official social media account also celebrated the news, posting: “We are delighted to announce that Chelsea Academy defender Isago Silva has signed his first professional contract with the club. Congratulations, Isago.”
Thiago reshared the post on his Instagram story, responding with heart, prayer and teary-eyed emojis. His wife, Belle, congratulated their son on Chelsea’s post, writing: ‘Congrats and good luck!’ accompanied by a blue heart and goat emojis.
Isago’s performances have already turned heads – he was called up to the England under-15s and was also named in Chelsea’s Champions League squad for the match against Ajax in October.
While Thiago is back in Brazil with Fluminense, his family remain in London, continuing what the defender referred to as their ‘mission’.
“I owe a lot of this to my family, because it’s not easy being away,” he confessed last summer.
“My children had to return now, only my wife stayed. They have their mission at Chelsea, to get back to the season.
“But I know we’re making the right choice, they’ll follow their path and that will certainly strengthen me now.
“Even though I’m far away physically, my children are here with me in spirit.”
