Today in Football - Things You May Have Missed

Football never sleeps. During any of the 86400 seconds in a 24-hour day, somewhere in the world someone is doing something related to the beautiful game, whether that’s scoring a last-minute winner in a high-profile match, posting their expert take on social media or simply booting a ball against a wall with their mates.

It’s therefore impossible for any human being to keep up with everything that’s going on in the game, and it’s often those little yet most intriguing moments, like a fan’s alternative viewpoint of a penalty save, or a three-second yet incredibly telling interaction between two arch-rivals, or thread on X explaining why N’Golo Kante is the nicest man in professional sport, which make football so great.

GIVEMESPORT have created our live blog to help solve that problem, providing the best social media has to offer and the greatest football mini-stories from the last 24 hours.

November 29: Guglielmo Vicario Has Shocker For Spurs vs Fulham

Tottenham goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario had a nightmarish few moments vs Fulham in their Premier League clash. Having already conceded to Kenny Tete after four minutes, the Italian rushed out of his goal only a short time later.

Instead of clearing the ball into touch, however, he bizarrely kept hold of it, inviting pressure. For some reason, he still refused to do the sensible and hit the ball out for a throw-in, instead knocking it up the pitch directly to Josh King.

The Fulham player quickly found Harry Wilson, who couldn’t believe his luck. With the goal wide open, he curled the ball in to double his team’s lead, much to Vicario’s embarrassment. Thomas Frank must have been fuming.

November 27: South American Cup Match Ends in Chaos With 17 Sent Off

A Copa Bolivia quarter-final clash between Blooming and Real Oruro has ended in the most chaotic scenes, with 17 players sent off following a huge brawl between players and staff.

The game finished 2-2, but this was enough for Blooming to make the semi-finals of the competition, having won 2-1 in the first leg. That outcome, however, was overshadowed by a fight that broke out after the full-time whistle.

Punches can be seen being thrown by players and staff members from each team in shocking footage, as local police felt as if they had no choice but to use tear gas to stop the scenes of violence.

It’s understood that Real Oruro were furious after the loss, especially as Blooming forward Cesar Menacho had been sent off earlier in the game for offensive language. In total, seven Blooming players were dismissed, while four more reds were for Oruro stars. On top of that, managers Mauricio Soria and Marcelo Robledo and their assistants were also sent off.

Bolivian outlet Vision360 note that Robledo (of Oruro), suffered a shoulder injury and a blow to his head during the brawl and was hospitalised. They add that one Blooming official suffered a fractured cheekbone during the chaos.

November 24: The 3 Words Declan Rice Shouted After Eze’s Goal vs Tottenham

Microphones have picked up the three words Declan Rice shouted after Eberechi Eze’s second goal against Tottenham on Sunday afternoon. Eze scored his second goal of the game moments after half-time to give his side a 3-0 lead. Not content with the scoreline, Rice had more goals on his mind as microphones picked him up clearly shouting ‘let’s kill them!’

Rice’s comments have gone down well on social media. An Arsenal supporter said on X: ‘Get him the armband. That’s enough for me’, while another wrote: ‘Love him so much man, best in the world.’

Arsenal went on to beat their fierce rivals 4-1 at the Emirates Stadium. They now have a six-point lead over Chelsea at the top of the Premier League table.

November 18: Scott McTominay Stuns Denmark With ‘One of Scotland’s Greatest Goals’

Scotland went into their final FIFA World Cup qualifier needing to take all three points against Denmark to book a place at next year’s competition. While the atmosphere at Hampden Park set up a potentially special evening for the Tartan Army, no one could’ve guessed what they’d witness.

After an extremely quick start from the hosts, Napoli superstar Scott McTominay stepped up for his country once again. The ex-Manchester United hero was picked out inside the area by Ben Gannon-Doak. What happened next was special. McTominay blew the roof off the stadium with an overhead kick, which was dubbed ‘one of the best in history’ by the commentator.

November 15: Arsenal Fan Roasts Ex-Spurs Owner Alan Sugar

Sugar tried to his back with his own question, as he asked: When was the last time Arsenal one something?”

The young Gunner paused for a second, before smarlty reminding everyone that the Women’s team won the Champions League just last season. His clever quip stopped Sugar in his tracks.

November 13: Ronaldo Sent Off During Portugal vs Ireland

Cristiano Ronaldo picked up a red card during Portugal’s match with Ireland, very clearly losing his temper while his team were trailing 2-0. Damning footage of the incident captured the veteran lashing out at Dara O’Shea.

He may well have thought he got away with it, but VAR was able to intervene, informing the referee to upgrade the yellow card to a straight red.

Journalist Gavin Cooney spotted his behaviour as he left the pitch, adding: “Ronaldo is SENT OFF – he then sarcastically applauds the crowd and then sidles up to Hallgrimsson, in reference to his comments on the referee yesterday.”

Former footballer and commentator Netro has called Neymar a ‘disgrace’ for his actions during Santos’ 3-2 defeat against Flamengo this weekend. Neymar cut a frustrated figure during the match and was visibly irritated when he was substituted off in the second half.

Neto wasn’t happy with Neymar’s behaviour, saying: “Did you see when Vojvoda took Neymar off? Are you going to take me off? You didn’t play at all, damn it! You just walked around the field. You went to Formula 1, you met the drivers there, you were a starter and you didn’t play at all. It’s a disgrace!

“While you, Santos fans, believe this guy is going to lead Santos to glory, you’re going to be relegated to Serie B because of him and the president. It’s Neymar’s fault, and the fault of his sycophants.”

Neto concluded: “Look how different Santos is without him…” referring to the fact Santos scored two goals and nearly pulled off a sensational comeback after Neymar was taken off.

Laughable footage from the same match has gone viral. At one point, Neymar ran all the way back to take a free-kick with the intention of Santos playing short, passing football. However, after passing the ball to a teammate, the ball was booted up the pitch aimlessly, much to Neymar’s frustration.

November 8: Luiz Diaz Scores Outrageous Goal vs Union Berlin

Luis Diaz scored a quite incredible goal in Bayern Munich’s Bundesliga clash with Union Berlin on Saturday afternoon. The Bavarian giants fell behind in the 27th minute when Danilho Doekhi found the back of the net.

Bayern restored parity 10 minutes later courtesy of Diaz’s brilliance. The Colombian winger did incredibly well to stop the ball out of play before cleverly nudging the ball past his opponent. He then decided to take an audacious shot at goal from the byline which somehow found its way past Frederik Ronnow and hit the back of the net.

Diaz has been a revelation for the Bundesliga giants and his latest piece of brilliance explains why they decided to splash out £65.5m for his services this summer.

November 4: Trent Alexander-Arnold’s Liverpool Mural Defaced

Trent Alexander-Arnold’s Liverpool mural has been defaced, just hours before the Reds’ Champions League clash against Real Madrid. Alexander-Arnold left his boyhood club in the summer on a free transfer and was booed by supporters at Anfield prior to his departure.

Images posted to X (Twitter) show the mural has been defaced with white paint, while the words “Rat” and “Adios El Rata” have been written next to the drawing of Trent wearing his old No. 66 Liverpool shirt. It was recently revealed that the full-back had been learning Spanish for several months prior to his announcement that he would not be signing a new contract with the Merseyside outfit.

November 2: Peter Crouch Reacts To Erling Haaland’s Robot Celebration

Football funny man Peter Crouch could not help but respond after seeing Erling Haaland do his own version of the robot when celebrating his opening goal in Manchester City’s 3-1 win over Bournemouth. The striker bagged a brace in the Premier League game, and caught the eye with his dance moves.

In the mid-2000s, Crouch was known for his robot celebration, pulling it out when scoring goals for the likes of England and Liverpool. Naturally, Haaland’s antics caught Crouch’s eyes and he took to social media to offer his thoughts on it all, joking:
