Tottenham returned to winning ways with a much-needed 5-0 win over Southampton on Sunday.

Ange Postecoglou’s side have struggled of late, leading to question marks over the Australian and his future in north London.

But Tottenham were too strong for Southampton on Sunday, with the north London giants cruising to victory.

James Maddison broke the deadlock inside the first minute, with the England international timing his run to perfection before firing past Alex McCarthy.

Tottenham will be pleased with their win, especially given how they’ll be facing Manchester United in the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup on Thursday.

For Southampton, however, it will only increase the doom and gloom mood around the place.

Russell Martin is fighting to keep his job and it’s hard to see where the Saints go from here after such an emphatic battering.

In the other late night match on Sunday, Chelsea beat Brentford 2-1 as they target a first Premier League title since 2017.

Defender Marc Cucurella put the Blues ahead in the 43rd minute.

And Nicolas Jackson doubled their lead with 10 minutes left on the clock after some good work from Enzo Fernandez, with Bryan Mbeumo then pulling one back right at the death.
