Tottenham Leading Race for Jonathan David
Tottenham Hotspur are in the market for a striker this month, with reports suggesting that they are in the race for Jonathan David, who would be a big upgrade on Randal Kolo Muani.
Although Spurs have plenty of options in the centre-forward position for Thomas Frank, they are yet to find the kind of striker who can replicate what Harry Kane produced. Finding that profile of player is going to be near impossible, considering his ability to find the back of the net, but their current crop of strikers have struggled with consistency.
Kolo Muani, Richarlison, and Dominic Solanke are the natural striker options for Frank at the moment, with Mathys Tel capable of playing through the middle too. As it stands, Solanke is just returning from injury, Richarlison is on the treatment table, and Kolo Muani hasn’t hit the heights expected of him.
Tottenham Lead Race for Jonathan David
According to reports, Tottenham are leading the race to sign Juventus striker David in the January transfer window. David, who has been described as ‘one of the best strikers in the world’, has struggled with regular minutes of late, but his goal record over the last few years speaks for itself.
David would be keen on a move to the Premier League, and there’s an argument to suggest that he would be a big upgrade on Kolo Muani. Even in what is considered a poor season for David, he’s got three more goals in the league than Kolo Muani in two fewer starts, with the Spurs striker yet to find a Premier League goal.
If Spurs can get David in for a reasonable fee, which might be possible due to his lack of game time, then he would certainly be a better option for Frank than Kolo Muani.
David Better Suited to Tottenham Than Samu
Tottenham have also been linked with a move to sign Samu Aghehowa this month, but David could be the better option for multiple reasons. The fee Juventus are likely to demand in comparison to what Porto will want for Samu is likely to be significantly different, with David undoubtedly the cheaper option.
David also has more experience playing in top leagues, with Samu currently plying his trade in Portugal. If Tottenham can secure David for a reasonable fee this month, then they should be doing everything they can to get him in.
