Tottenham Hotspur are set to make an improved bid for 19-year-old Brazilian left-back Souza, GMS understands.
Spurs have already seen one £8m offer for the Santos defender rejected, but have not given up on securing his signature this month. They face competition from several European clubs, including Milan.
Santos are reluctant to sanction a mid-season sale, but the player is keen to move this winter. Santos are hoping for sell-on clause and value Souza at around double Spurs’ original valuation.
Santos believe the teenager’s value will only grow if they keep him longer, and as a result, an exit worth potentially as high as €35m when add-ons and projected sell-on are considered. However, sources at multiple interested clubs have told GMS the package will likely come down.
Tottenham Could Sign Souza for Under €20m

Reports in England have suggested Santos has a release clause of €100m for overseas clubs. However, this number is disputed by Brazilian sources, who claim the player may be available cheaper forcing Santos’ hand and prompting a sale at under €20m, plus any future sell-on.
Souza made 24 Brazilian Serie A appearances last season as Santos survived relegation. Spurs have been tracking him for around two years and sent scouts to watch him at the Under-17 World Cup in November 2023. Tottenham are looking to add a new left-back due to the fact Destiny Udogie is out with a hamstring injury. A younger option is wanted compared to Ben Davies, and although Djed Spence can also play left-back his natural position is as a right-sided fullback.
